Red is having a moment this winter. Now this makes ME very happy but I often hear people telling me that they can’t wear red for various reasons.
The fact is that everyone can wear red, it’s all about finding YOUR shade of red (that’s where Colour Analysis comes in). Red is the colour of energy, when we see or wear red it releases adrenaline giving us that extra boost of energy. If you take part in any sports, run or workout then it’s a great colour for giving you that extra bit of oomph. I often reach for red when I'm tired or know I have a long day ahead, it gives me a bit more of a spring in my step.
However, red is the only colour that can have both a negative and positive impact on us. The positive is that it shows confidence but the negative is that it can also signify danger (think warning signs) hence why you have to be careful as to where and when you wear it.Â
Socially, head-to-toe red is a show-stopper. You are showing the world you are confident and owning that moment, you will always turn heads in red. Â
Professionally, I would avoid head-to-toe red as it can be intimidating to colleagues and clients. Instead, go for one red item such as a blouse and tone it down with a neutral.Â
If you’re not sure where to start with red and it seems a little intimidating then try with small pops such as a red lip, nail colour or accessories. You can also try a neutral blouse with a red print to help you build your way up to block colour.
When you’re ready for a block colour you can either tone your red down by wearing it with a neutral or brighten it up by pairing it with another colour, it’s entirely up to you. Enjoy the power of red and the confidence it brings.
